Shelby creates unique, handcrafted art jewelry. She
began creating jewelry in 2004, with a concentration in
wirework. While manipulating wire so that it is smooth
and flowing remains her first love, more recently, she
began working with metals and enamels. Exploring with
metals and enameling has encouraged her to grow as an
artist. Most pieces are created using sterling silver,
however she is creating more mixed metal pieces. She
uses such techniques as coiling, cold connections,
soldering, texture, and patinas to create one of a kind
works.
Inspiration for her work is diverse. She is frequently
inspired by nature, but inspiration also comes in the form
of color and/or texture, a particular stone, or even from
other artwork. Her goal is to create a unique, comfortable
piece of art jewelry using high quality materials.
